Please join us on March 17 & 18, 2026 from 11am-12pm in the  Royce Hall 314 for “Rethinking Boundaries to Confront 21st-Century Challenges: Interdisciplinarity and Collaborations in the Anthropocene”. The UCLA Institute for Society & Genetics (ISG) and France’s National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) are partnering to host a symposium that will showcase interdisciplinary and collaborative research on the Anthropocene, a phenomenon defined by profound entanglements between environmental change, human health, and societal systems. This symposium will mark the creation of a UCLA/CNRS International Research Laboratory (IRL) dedicated to interdisciplinary research centered on the intersection between environmental health, social sciences, and policy.

Speakers will include Emmanuel Henry (CNRS), Bharat Venkat (ISG, UCLA), Kevin He (Pew Trust), David Demortain (Inrae, CNRS), Timothy Malloy (Law, UCLA), Renaud Le Goix (U-Paris, CNRS), Yoshira Ornelas Van Horne (Public Health, UCLA), Alesia Montgomery (IOES, UCLA), and Anne-Charlotte Martineau (CNRS)
