Prior to entering medical school as a member of UCLA’s Class of 2019, Jose served in the US Navy, volunteered with Sharp Hospice Care as a respite caregiver and worked as an Environmental Health Specialist for San Diego County.  He enjoys basketball, dancing, film and going on long bike rides.  In the summer of 2016, he participated in the Center’s Ethnographic Summer Project to learn more about the lives of the homeless mentally ill in LA and the services available to them.
